Linda & Gus P. Were Deceived Into Thinking Their Timeshare Had Value

Linda P. admits that she and her husband had no recent exposure to the idea of a timeshare, and so they certainly weren’t expecting the pushy group sales tactics and deceptive gifts that come with the timeshare sales presentation. The couple soon realized that all of the pretty pictures and extravagant gifts shown at the sales meeting were no more within their reach than an actual vacation with the timeshare company.

The following is a written account from Linda and Gus P. on their time spent as timeshare owners and why they regret every bit of it. We hope their story will shed a light on the wrongdoings so prevalent within the timeshare industry. Names of people and places have been changed or redacted for privacy reasons.

When Linda and Gus attended their timeshare sales meeting, they weren’t aware of the tactics used and lies told to persuade them to buy a timeshare. Everything seemed very legitimate and like a potential opportunity to make vacations work out in their favor.

“The place we stayed during the presentation was beautiful and well accommodating. They did a great job presenting us with ‘This is how all your vacations could be!’ They served us snacks and drinks while waiting for our presentation. The overall meeting lasted about five hours. The first part (after snack time) was in another room with people who had also been invited.

We watched videos of happy families and heard about the benefits of owning a timeshare. One perk was that it could be passed down to our children, and they could enjoy the legacy of ‘amazing vacations for the rest of their lives.’”

The couple ended up purchasing the timeshare after speaking with 3 different sales people and being stuck in the meeting for nearly five hours. As they were showered with ‘“free vacation getaways” and other certificates, they thought that the value of these vacations alone was worth the timeshare price. They later realized that these “free vacation getaways” had all sorts of related expenses, and that they weren’t very free at all.

Their problems with booking a reservation through their timeshare? Like so many other timeshare owners, Linda and Gus were told that they didn’t have enough points, and that they would have to upgrade or attend another presentation. The couple has never been able to use their timeshare, and they feel more confused and angry as the years pass by and the annual fees continue to increase.

Furthermore, Linda was diagnosed with an aggressive case of breast cancer a couple of years ago, and she and Gus have struggled to keep up with the timeshare payments along with her ever-increasing medical costs.

“My husband and I work hard and have tried to uphold this agreement. Truthfully, we are both upset and realize that this was the worst ‘investment’ we ever made. It is an ‘investment’ that yielded zero results. This company continues to take out money even though they know that we NEVER use this because we can’t.”

After hearing an advertisement for Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG) on the radio, the couple decided to contact us and see if they qualify for our timeshare cancellation services. It took several months, but Linda & Gus are now timeshare free!*
