Vistana Signature Experiences is a timeshare company that offers vacation ownership opportunities at a variety of locations around the world. The company has resorts in popular destinations such as Orlando, Las Vegas, and Maui, and offers a wide range of accommodations, including villas, studios, and hotel rooms. Vistana Signature Experiences prides itself on providing high-quality vacation experiences for its owners, and offers a variety of activities and amenities at its resorts, including swimming pools, fitness centers, and on-site restaurants.
In 1980, the inception of Vistana marked the emergence of the first timeshare resort in Orlando, Florida known as the Vistana Resort with the Courts phase. Subsequent to this, the organization grew rapidly and reflected a major stakeholder in the timeshare niche. By 1997, Vistana had reached 1,500 units in the six resorts and sold around 68,000 vacation ownership interests. In 1996, Vistana collaborated with the Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, and Homewood Suites to manage and publicize vacation ownership properties.
In 1999, Starwood Hotels & Resort took over Vistana in order to swiftly enter the vacation ownership market. However, in 2016, Starwood Hotels & Resort was purchased by Marriott International, causing Vistana to be severed from Starwood and bought by Interval Leisure Group (ILG). Vistana was then given the unique right to manage and promote vacation ownership locations with the Westin and Sheraton labels. At present, Vistana operates and has control of 24 vacation ownership and hotel properties through the Vistana Signature Network (VSN).
