When Lucas was first approached about buying a timeshare, he showed no interest in doing so. He attended a sales presentation when he was offered a free weekend trip to one of his favorite locations, but he had no plans of actually buying a timeshare. All of a sudden, he had five sales people surrounding him offering a number of different incentives if he agreed to purchase. Lucas was lured in with all these extra gifts, most of which turned out to be lies.
Lucas was now a timeshare owner. But before he could even use it, the resort was already calling trying to upsell him even more. Here is a firsthand hand account from Lucas on what happened next and why his timeshare experience was a disaster. We hope this story will showcase the wrongdoings currently taking place in the timeshare industry. Names have been changed or redacted due to privacy concerns.
“Just 3 months after I bought the timeshare, the resort called me insisting that I attend another meeting that was strictly for owners. They said it would help me learn how to use their system and get my first vacation booked. Instead of that, they just tried to get me to buy more by upgrading my timeshare. I said no from the very beginning, but the saleswoman that day would not take no for an answer.”
Lucas found this second meeting to be even worse than the first one. He was there for hours on end and felt like there was no way out. After several hours, Lucas was exhausted and agreed to the upgrade just so he could finally leave.
“Now when it came time to use the timeshare, I was unhappy from the very beginning. After practically being forced into an upgrade, I thought using the timeshare would be easy and hassle-free. That was not the case. Every time I tried to book something, the resort could not accommodate it. I tried booking trips over a year out in advance, but still nothing. A two-night stay was the longest vacation I ever had with this timeshare.”
After the initial timeshare purchase and definitely after the upgrade, Lucas was under the impression that his vacation options were unlimited. He soon found that to be untrue and actually the complete opposite.
“The salespeople said I would have so many options across the globe to visit and could use the timeshare whenever I wanted. But really, I now had more restrictions than ever on my vacations. I could not go when or where I pleased, but instead would have to put up with the bare minimum if that!“
Lucas grew tired of all the limitations that were being put on him by his timeshare and he wanted out ASAP. He began researching ways to exit his timeshare agreement after the resort was of no help. Luckily, he came across Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG), one of the leaders of the timeshare cancellation industry.
With our assistance and perseverance, it was not too much longer before Lucas was able to break free of the timeshare chains that had been holding him back. We canceled Lucas’s timeshare agreement so that he can now finally vacation on his own terms once again.*
