As a United States Army veteran, husband and father of four children, Frank has little time to waste. His wife also owns a dance studio in their hometown, so his family has enough to juggle between multiple schedules. He was told a timeshare would be a great option for his family’s crazy schedules, but he would soon come to find that his timeshare wasn’t as lenient as he thought it would be.
The following is a firsthand, written account about Frank’s deceptive timeshare experience. We hope his story will help shed a light on the distrustful practices of the timeshare sales industry. Names have been changed or redacted due to privacy concerns.
Juggling between his post-Army commitments and his large family, a vacation was on the shortlist of things that Frank simply couldn’t take at the time. But when he was offered a free stay at a nice resort, Frank couldn’t resist the opportunity.
Naturally, when Frank and his family attended the timeshare meeting, they were told about all the wonderful things a timeshare could offer them. They answered every question or concern he had...mostly with lies and exaggerated truths.
“[The timeshare sales team] told me that my family would be able to stay at amazing destinations in 5 star resorts and book anytime we wanted with no blackout dates. They told us that their people would support us and help us book anywhere in the world, and that we would get free, bonus vacations throughout the year as well. They said that this way would be more affordable than saving up to book a vacation on our own and we would get more for our money.”
Frank was excited about the opportunity to easily book a vacation. He thought his monthly fees would essentially be prepaid reservations for the best resorts he could get his family. Frank worked hard and so did his wife, so there was little time for them to enjoy together during their busy, everyday lives. With this timeshare opportunity, Frank thought he could finally begin spending quality time with his family on the most exclusive vacations...until the first time he tried to book a vacation.
Multiple attempts, bad timing and terrible offers made it nearly impossible for Frank to use his timeshare. This, of course, was after the first year alone.
“After the first year of having the timeshare, we realized that it was not what they made it out to be. We thought that we would be stuck with it and just have to keep paying for mediocre service and vacations that were limited.”
As an Army veteran, Frank knew how to manage his time...and he knew it was a waste of time trying to coordinate multiple schedules along with the availability of a timeshare option. He was told that he could vacation with his family whenever and wherever he wanted, but that was certainly never the case.
Frank had spent some time looking for a way out of his timeshare, but the timeshare company itself was obviously no help to him in escaping it. And when watching YouTube clips one day with his children, Frank saw an advertisement for Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG).
He did some more research and decided to take the plunge into a timeshare exit plan. After discovering that he qualified for WFG’s cancellation assistance, Frank worked diligently alongside us for several months to ultimately cancel his terrible timeshare! On top of that, Frank was relieved of nearly $60,000 in timeshare mortgage debt, which means he and his family can now truly enjoy vacations whenever and wherever they want!*
“[WFG] was fantastic, walking us through every step of the way and keeping us up to date on everything that was happening. At no time did we ever feel that we were alone. It was like having family take care of us.
We are now saving up for a beautiful vacation to Miami with everyone once we are all vaccinated from COVID.”
