Gary wanted to start a family tradition of annual vacations. When he was approached about a timeshare, the sales staff played Gary’s dream to their advantage. However, it wouldn’t take long for Gary and his family to start searching for a way out.
The following includes a written account of the timeshare experience that Gary went through with his timeshare company. “I've always wanted to have a vacation with family and friends. Whether it’s the looks on my kids faces or the laughs we all have, I just wanted to do more with my family and have more memories, not everybody lives forever. I thought a timeshare would be a great way to execute this, but I was very wrong.”
When he looks back on the lies he was told in his sales proceeding, what Gary remembers most is being told that he could pass down his timeshare to his kids as a benefit when he passes away.
“I didn't know that when you pass, your kids will have to take over the payments and maintenance fees. They didn't say that when we were in orientation and signing the paperwork. They conveniently left that part of the conversation out.”
When he started to become frustrated with how he and his family were being treated by the timeshare company, Gary decided to give them a call.
“They didn’t return my calls ever. Their communication was terrible, and once you finally do get through to them they keep passing you around. You have to be extremely patient to get anywhere with them.”
