Pressured To Sign, Darrell & Nancy Knew They Made A Mistake Purchasing A Timeshare

Below is a word for word account of the timeshare nightmare that Darrell and Nancy T. experienced. We hope their written account will shed some light on the tactics that the timeshare industry often uses on good, unsuspecting people. *Names of people have been changed and/or redacted for privacy reasons.

Darrell and Nancy’s Client Story

“On October 29, 2019, my wife and I upgraded while we were in Branson, MO. We were told about all the nice vacations and places we should be going. We were promised airline tickets and cruises and we were told we could use our points for the maintenance fees. We were also told if we made this last purchase, we would be able to opt-out and they would not go after our estate after we passed.

We felt pressured and manipulated into signing the contract. We were not given time to think about it, and it had to be done right away. No one explained what we were signing, and they didn't bother to make sure we read and understood everything. We were even told by one of the salespeople that we were taking too long in signing. We were there for 5 hours, but we were initially told it would only be an hour.

In the contract agreement it stated we had 5 days to cancel by written correspondence and postmarked no later than 10/14/19. We knew we made a huge mistake and wanted to cancel this purchase, so we wrote a letter to inform the timeshare company that we wanted to cancel. I also made numerous calls to speak to someone, because it was the weekend and Monday was a national holiday, and the post office would be closed. On that same day I made over 20 calls to the timeshare in Branson, MO. No one returned my calls after leaving multiple messages to Ryan J. that we were wanting to cancel. I even tried contacting someone at the front desk, and they told me they would forward my message to Audea O. in sales. We still got no response.

The following day on 10/15/19, we received a call from Jess H. telling us sorry about your luck, you are a day late. How would you feel if you were treated like this?”

Cancelling Your Timeshare Is Possible

The timeshare company often makes it very difficult to cancel. They conveniently missed all of Darrell’s calls and used the holiday as a way to get around their policy.

Darrell reached out to us for help in terminating his timeshare. We are in the process of working with him and Nancy to complete their termination.
