Sneaky Salespeople Made For A Terrible Timeshare Experience For Lacey & Michael F.

Lacey and Michael were not even interested in a timeshare when they first visited a sales presentation, but they were made to feel like they could never leave the resort until they purchased one. The following is a written account from them on their experience with the timeshare industry and how they finally freed themselves from it. Timeshare salespeople have a bit of a reputation, and it's not a great one. I guess they wanted to be sure they lived up to it when they met with this couple.

“We attended a sales promotion for timeshares that involved a free weekend get-away at their resort. While there, the salesman was very pushy and demanding, even going as far as accusing us of only being there for the free give-away when we did not sign up for a timeshare initially. There were salespeople everywhere at the resort and we could never avoid them throughout the weekend.”

The non-stop harassment from timeshare representatives eventually broke Lacey and Michael down, leading them to sign up and purchase one. Afterward, they decided to hope for the best, and would try to take advantage of the timeshare as much as they could. But dreams don't always turn to fruition.

“Whenever we had the time to vacation, there was never anything available. When we would bring this up to the salespeople, they just took it as an opportunity to push more expenses on us. We were pushed to upgrade our timeshare several times thinking the costs would reduce, but it did the opposite instead. With the monthly fees constantly increasing for us, our payments have come to be too much of a burden that we can not afford.”

Timeshares may appear like a cheaper alternative to traveling, especially with the way their salespeople present them, but in all actuality, they can become quite expensive when compared with other options. 

“This timeshare has become a bigger financial burden since we have both retired, and our money is already so tight from owning it for all these years. While checking for other hotel options because our timeshare never had the availability, I noticed that anybody could stay at our same resort for a much cheaper cost than what we paid as owners.”
