Wayne and Beverly Were at the Mercy of Some Strange Timeshare Location Options

Wayne and Beverly F. were sold their original timeshare through a timeshare company, but the realtor representing them throughout the process never once told them of the cautions to take when purchasing a timeshare. Furthermore, the couple had purchased a timeshare because Beverly’s parents and sister had bought a timeshare option through the same resort, so they thought that it would be a great chance for the family to vacation together. Little did they know just what they’d gotten themselves into.

The following is a written account from Wayne and Beverly F. on their time spent as timeshare owners and why they regret every bit of it. We hope their story will shed a light on the wrongdoings so prevalent within the timeshare industry. Names of people and places have been changed or redacted for privacy reasons.

Wayne and Beverly don’t exactly recall a stressful or pressure-filled timeshare sales meeting, mostly because they already had decided, as a family, to purchase a separate timeshare after Beverly’s sister and parents had purchased their own timeshares. This was done during a time before timeshare companies had even offered a points system, so Wayne and Beverly were extremely confused when they were pressured to upgrade their timeshare option in order to have enough points for their next vacation.

“Every time we go on vacation, the salespeople pressure us to meet and review our account. They leave messages on my cell phone, saying it’s urgent that I speak with them. Everytime we meet with them, they tell us that it is urgent that we make an immediate change to our program - stating that we need to increase our points in order to have any flexibility in going to their ‘prime’ locations,” says Beverly.

The couple has held on to their timeshare since their children were young, sometimes able to utilize it, but never able to find an availability in their preferred locations. After speaking with their now-adult children about the possibility of inheriting their timeshare, Wayne and Beverly realized that their children sat through those same grueling timeshare sales meetings and wasted days of their family’s ‘vacation.’

Overall, their family’s timeshare experience has obviously been less than desirable, especially considering they had paid thousands of dollars per year toward a timeshare when they could’ve been spending those same thousands on extravagant vacations!

“We feel as though we would be better financially not having the monthly fees, which continue to increase. In addition, as we are planning for retirement in the future, continuing to pay these monthly fees with no end in sight would be a huge financial burden.”

Calling it fate, the couple heard an advertisement on radio programming for Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG)  one day, so they decided to reach out to us here and see if they qualify for our timeshare cancellation services. It took several months of back and forth with the timeshare company, but Wayne and Beverly are now timeshare free!*
