When approached by timeshare salespeople at a shopping center, this married couple was hesitant and walked away. But the salespeople kept persisting and followed them. They began offering gifts to the couple in exchange for them to attend a timeshare presentation. Before too long, Dan and Madeline were offered a free cruise trip on top of a one-week stay at a resort. Feeling like they couldn’t pass up the offer, the couple agreed to attend the presentation.

What happened next for Dan and Madeline at that presentation led to an unbearable experience for them that would cost them thousands of dollars every year for their foreseeable future. Luckily for them, we stepped in to help and were able to liberate them from their terrible timeshare agreement. Names and places have been changed or redacted for privacy reasons.

“It was an extremely long presentation and they would not take no for an answer. They would bring in more sales agents and managers to try and persuade us into buying a timeshare. After a while, they began lowering the price and promised us we could visit anywhere in the world and use it whenever we like. In the end, we were there for over five hours and with all the promises they were making, it sounded like a good deal so we agreed to it.”

Timeshares are never as great as the salespeople make them out to be. These presentations they put on are often filled with as many lies as the promises they make.

“After we purchased, we learned that those free prizes we were offered to attend the presentation were not even free and we would have to pay for them. This upset us and made us doubt ever buying the timeshare, but thinking it was already too late, we just hoped to make the best out of the situation.”

The only reason Dan and Madeline attended the presentation was that they were offered the chance to enjoy a cruise and a week-long vacation. Not a good first impression from the timeshare company.

“Come to find out, owning a timeshare would be filled with problems for years to come. Our biggest issue was the difficulty in making a reservation. There were never any bookings available unless it was years out in advance, which would be tough to schedule for. We were only ever to book two trips in all of our years of owning, and they were not even exciting destinations. The lack of resort locations was shocking because it goes against everything we were told at that first presentation.”

After years of suffering through all the lies of owning a timeshare, Dan and Madeline were ready for something to change. While they did not get any help from their timeshare company with this matter, after contacting us at Wesley Financial Group, LLC they were put on the right track. Not too long after, the couple saw their timeshare agreement completely terminated and were relieved of close to $40,000 in mortgage and maintenance debt.*
