Micah & Wanda’s Timeshare Was Not Worth The One Vacation They Received

Would you pass up a free vacation? Exactly, most of us wouldn’t! And Micah and Wanda B. are no different. They accepted a similar invitation like this, but theirs had a catch to it…

In order to redeem their free trip, the couple had to agree to attend a 90-minute presentation during their stay at the resort. That doesn’t sound like a bad deal, right? So Micah and Wanda went through with it, but they never knew this decision would alter their lives for years to come.

Not in a good way either. That presentation did not go as the couple had expected, and as a result, they were misled into a timeshare purchase. After putting money into this so-called investment for close to two decades, Micah and Wanda had yet to see a return on it.

The couple suffered from this financial burden for years before working with Wesley Financial Group, LLC (“WFG”) to get out of their timeshare. This was not an easy road though, and we know how many others go through similar situations.

That is why we reached back out to Micah and Wanda recently to hear more on their side of the story. We knew it would speak to so many others and perhaps open many more eyes to the deceptive practices running rampant within the timeshare sales industry

Micah & Wanda Share How Their Story Began

“We were offered a discounted trip to a resort that we declined and then were offered that same trip for free. They also threw in some free tickets to a couple of local attractions so we agreed to it and they said all we had to do was attend a 90-minute presentation to redeem it all. That started out as a tour of the resort and then turned into a sales pitch lasting for four hours.”

To Micah and Wanda’s surprise, the resort they had just toured was not what was being sold to them. The couple was being pushed to buy into a new resort still under construction. They were told they were getting a timeshare at a once-in-a-lifetime deal since they were buying in so early but looking back, the couple found the deal worthless.

“They really pushed the points system and vacation exchange program onto us. We ate it all up and decided to purchase. Throughout all of our years of owning it though, we were only able to use our timeshare once. We were always unable to secure the time and location that we needed. We even tried booking for friends to use and our parents too but were never able to.”

It Took Almost A Decade Before The Couple Could Use Their Timeshare

Micah and Wanda purchased their timeshare in 2003 and were not able to use it until 2012. It took almost a full decade before they could use it and just about another decade later, it was still their only trip to show for their timeshare purchase.

“We paid a lot of money for this timeshare over the years with no return on this investment whatsoever. Even if we could have used it more often, I don’t think we would have recovered what we were paying for it, considering we’d be paying for it throughout our entire lifetime. ”

The annual maintenance fees that come with every timeshare were beginning to take their toll on Micah and Wanda. These fees typically increase every year but this knowledge is not always related to the innocent buyers. To make matters worse, these fees have no end in sight and can fall onto the shoulders of your loved ones when you pass.

“We had to pay out of pocket to vacation at other places because of the expense and inability to use the timeshare. We were also concerned that our children would eventually be burdened with the timeshare and it’s expenses when we were deceased.”

Micah & Wanda Were Ready To Make A Change

That change consisted of finding a way out of their timeshare agreement and completely ending their association with the resort. While finding this type of help proved to be difficult at first, the couple eventually were able to find exactly what they were looking for.

After seeing several advertisements for Wesley Financial Group, LLC and hearing Chuck McDowell’s story, Micah and Wanda were convinced this is where they needed to be. A decision of theirs that they look back fondly on.

That’s because within only 6 months of working with WFG, the couple’s dream had finally come true and they were timeshare-free!* Even when times were darkest for Micah and Wanda, we showed them that it was still light at the end of the tunnel.
