As a hard-working single mom, Alissa became disgruntled with her timeshare management group when she began to think through all the lies she was told during her sales meeting that lasted over six hours. She was made to believe her timeshare was a solid investment, but in reality, all it did was take away all of her finances.
The following is a direct account of the timeshare debacle that Alissa faced. We hope her first-hand experience helps to shed light on the manipulative tactics timeshare salespeople use on honest and trusting clients. The names of people and companies have been omitted and/or changed for privacy reasons.
“I am a full-time employed, single mother of two from Memphis, Tenn. I thought this timeshare would enable me to take my kids on nice vacations to destinations in the U.S. and abroad as promised. Instead, my timeshare company sucked ungodly amounts of money out of me for 10 years (both on the monthly note and the escalating maintenance fees), and I could never even use the timeshare. Either I didn't book soon enough, my points had expired, or the property was not eligible. It is the biggest scam and waste of money on the planet.”
What finally set Alissa over the edge was the bills she would continually get in the mail. She was not only shocked at the high-interest rate, but she also couldn’t believe how high her annual fees had gotten.
“The loan interest rate was so high (revolving credit card levels) that I could never even make a dent in the principal, and I would have been paying for the rest of my life if I hadn't taken out a loan. The maintenance fees were outrageous, and they went up every year with no explanation. Because I could not always pay the mystery maintenance fee amount in January, I could never use the property and got charged monthly penalty fees and threatened with liens. They told me at purchase I could always sell it back. This was not the case.”
Alissa felt stranded. She quickly took action and found a company that offered to sell her timeshare for her. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a legitimate operation and she ended up losing more money.
“I paid another company $3,000 to try and sell it and never received one offer. It is worth NOTHING and you can't give it away because nobody (including your heirs) wants to pay this maintenance fee in perpetuity.”
Having tried numerous times to work with her timeshare company towards a termination, Alissa experienced no such luck. One day, the full-time working mom of two found Wesley Financial Group, LLC (“WFG”) while doing some research on the internet.
“What helped me choose WFG over any other company was its reputation. The incredible people I talk to on the phone are very organized and efficient throughout the process. They have a proven track record.”
We are proud to announce that after Alissa reached out to Wesley Financial Group, LLC, we were able to assist her in completely terminating her timeshare.* She now looks forward to bouncing back financially and focusing on timeshare-free vacations with her kids.
“I think what I enjoyed the most about working with WFG were the people. They made me feel welcomed and helped walk me through every step. I recommend WFG to everyone I know who is stuck in a timeshare.”
