Rebecca J. Was Shocked At The Hidden Fees That Came With A Timeshare

While shopping at a Bass Pro Shop with her cousin, Rebecca J. was confronted by timeshare sales representatives. Persuading her with gift cards to take a vacation at their resort and attend their meeting/presentation, it was not long before Rebecca was trapped in a sales pitch.

After helping her to reach timeshare cancellation, we reached back out to Rebecca to recount her experience with the timeshare industry and the horrors she encountered. We hope her story will shed a light on the corruption that takes place too often within this industry to innocent people. Names have been changed or omitted due to privacy concerns.

“I just remember they kept giving me gifts. Gift cards for agreeing to speak with them and also discounts to go to their resort and watch their presentation. Then when I got there, they offered more gift cards and told me the presentation would not last long. That was not the case at all.”

Timeshare presentations are more accurately described as timeshare sales pitches. In order to get people to attend their pitch, they not only have to change the name of it but also have to bribe attendees with gifts and discounts.

“At the presentation, they just talked about how great of an investment it would be but never really told me how. Several different people were coming to talk to me about timeshares and each time they would either drop the cost compared to the last person or throw in some extra bonus. It got to the point where I was convinced I was getting a vacation property for more than half off the listing price. I wanted to leave and think it over, but they said if I did that then I would never get that offer again and it would be full price the next day.”

Rebecca spent hours at this “presentation” and eventually she was broken down and convinced by the salespeople to purchase a timeshare. Despite so much time spent there that day, there was a lot of information regarding the timeshare that was not relayed to the new owner.

“Hidden fees are the worst, I hate them! There were so many with my timeshare purchase too. The maintenance fees were the worst because they kept getting more and more expensive over time. But there were also a number of different fees that I had to pay both times I used the timeshare. This just made it all too expensive considering I had already paid off the property.”

A timeshare is never paid off. Plain and simple. It’s usually a great feeling to pay off such a big expense but that feeling never comes for timeshare owners. In fact, it’s the complete opposite. Maintenance fees increase in cost every year no matter what and to make use of your timeshare, you can always count on a few extra price tags.

Rebecca contacted Wesley Financial Group, LLC after owning a timeshare for just a few short years and had already figured out the mistake she had got herself in. Now she is completely out of her timeshare agreement and no longer held responsible for all those fees.* Next time, Rebecca plans to just keep walking when timeshare salespeople approach her.
