Retiree Unable To Keep Up With Rising Maintenance Costs

Terry V. was on a business trip 15 years ago when he and his wife were approached by timeshare salespeople at the hotel they were staying at. When they decided to purchase the timeshare, there was no mention of maintenance fees whatsoever. So you can only imagine how shocked they were to get that first annual maintenance bill a year later. Unfortunately, for Terry and his wife, these bills kept getting worse and worse with each passing year.

Now he is sharing his story with the rest of us! Read on below for excerpts from Terry on his terrible timeshare ownership. We hope this will help enlighten many to the wrongdoings taking place in the timeshare industry. The names of companies and people have been changed due to privacy concerns.

“My wife and I went down to Florida because I had a business meeting to attend. While waiting in our hotel lobby one day, we were approached by an aggressive salesperson who offered us a limo ride to a resort with a free lunch. We accepted because the rest of our day was open, but we did not even know what he was selling.”

Just about every timeshare story starts the same. It seems to always begin with a salesperson offering some sort of gift or prize to unsuspecting customers. Without giving away free gifts, it’s safe to say that nobody would attend their sales presentations.

“It was like a flurry of sales pitches when we got there. After declining several times, we then had to talk to a supervisor who made us a better offer. We were actually able to afford the initial deposit and he promised us affordable financing. It sounded so good, and we felt like we couldn’t pass it up because the supervisor said the deal would only be available that day.”

Time and time again these resort salespeople continue to take advantage of vulnerable families. Terry and his wife were left thinking they had no option but to purchase this “once in a lifetime deal.” Not to mention, everything that was left out of the sales pitch, such as maintenance fees.

“There was never even a mention of maintenance fees or any of the other additional costs that go into booking vacations with their resorts. We had not used the timeshare even once since purchasing it because all the extra resort fees made it too expensive. Maybe if we were not already paying hundreds in maintenance fees every year, those added costs would not be so bad. And they kept going up too! Our annual maintenance fees were close to $1,000 by the end of it all.”

Terry thought his payments to the resort would be over after paying off the timeshare mortgage, but unfortunately, that was not the case. Maintenance fees never end. Once the family realized this was a lifetime financial agreement, they grew even more worrisome. Not sure how much longer they could keep up with the annual payments, they began looking for a way out.

“All the money we were pouring into those maintenance costs could have been much better spent going to our retirement funds over the years. Now that we are retired, our financial resources are limited and that is largely due to owning a timeshare. We knew we had to get out of that resort, or this financial burden could fall onto our children.”

Recommended by a family friend, Terry reached out to us at Wesley Financial Group, LLC about our timeshare termination services. With our help and support system, it was not too long before this family’s timeshare agreement was completely canceled.* We are now happy to see they are enjoying their vacations stress-free!

“Now when we do travel, we never even speak to the timeshare salespeople. And our vacations have been much more enjoyable because of that.”

If you know anyone with a similar timeshare experience, please feel free to pass our phone number along to them. We’d love to see if they qualify for our timeshare termination services.
