Anna was told she couldn’t remove her mother’s name from the timeshare deed without buying more points. Sound familiar? That’s because timeshare sales people will tell you that ANYTHING you want to do with your timeshare will ultimately cost more money. Here is Anna’s story about how timeshare salesmen exploited the death of Anna’s mother to take even more of her family’s money.
The following is a firsthand, written account about Anna's deceptive timeshare experience. We hope her story will help shed a light on the distrustful practices of the timeshare sales industry. Names have been changed or redacted due to privacy concerns.
Anna lost her mother and husband not too long ago. As a newly widowed woman in her 60’s, she’d worked hard to build and sell several businesses throughout her life. Anna worked hard for her money, so she always made sure to spend it wisely.
“I am in my late 60’s, I have owned several businesses and taught entrepreneurship at a local college. I consider myself to be a good business woman. One of my lifelong goals was to travel. That was the main reason I held on to my mom’s timeshare when she passed.”
When Anna went to discuss the possibilities of using the timeshare at the ‘update meeting,’ she was told that she had to upgrade her timeshare option before she could even use it. When she asked about taking her mother’s name off the deed, Anna was told (once again) that she would have to purchase more points...what?
Unfortunately, timeshare sales people use tactics like this all the time in order to squeeze more money out of existing customers. These tactics are also known as lies. There’s no real basis or financial grounds for claiming that someone needs to upgrade or purchase more points, but the sales people’s endgame here is to get more of your money!
Another point that the timeshare sales team tried to make with Anna involved her being able to use the timeshare for herself in the future.
“They [the sales people] told me I could not use the points I currently had for future reservations because all the units were becoming ‘signature’ units. I would have to buy more points.
They promised the ‘update meeting’ would only take about an hour and a half, but they kept me up to four hours, wearing me down. They are well trained con artists.”
Anna held on to the timeshare for some time, but soon she began looking for options out of her timeshare. She’d consulted with lawyers, but she wasn’t happy with the ideas that the lawyers provided her. One day, while scrolling through her social media feed, Anna found Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG).
With the help of WFG, Anna was successfully relieved of nearly $200,000 worth of timeshare mortgage debt!* Anna is now timeshare free, and she is able to enjoy vacations for much cheaper with her family and friends now.
“I had a wonderful experience with WFG. They emailed and called when necessary. They knew the process it takes to get the timeshare resolved. It took about a year for my account to be closed. I feel so relieved to have this taken care of. It is so nice to work with people who know what they are doing and do what they say they can do to help!”
If you know anyone with a similar timeshare experience, please feel free to pass our phone number along to them. We’d love to see if they qualify for our timeshare termination services.
