Jill J. vividly recalls the intense pressure she faced at her timeshare sales meeting. She saw the numerous โ€œgiftsโ€ attached to the purchase for what they were: thinly-veiled bribes to entice someone to purchase a โ€œvacation for lifeโ€ as she described it.

Below is a written account of the timeshare ordeal that Jill J. experienced. We hope her written account will shed light on some of the pushy tactics that the timeshare industry often uses on unsuspecting people. Names of people have been changed and/or redacted for privacy reasons.

Jill J.โ€™s first timeshare sales meeting was unlike anything sheโ€™d ever experienced before. Sheโ€™d purchased cars and other items that involved sales pressure, but Jill nearly cried during her timeshare sales meeting.

โ€œThe first pitch lasted through dinner, making me and a friend the last two people to leave the building for the evening. I was tired, almost in tears and astonished that they would put anyone through such an ordeal. That meeting lasted over four hours.โ€

Jill took some time to process the purchase and what it would mean for her vacation options in the future. As she began to try and book her vacations, though, she quickly discovered that her timeshare purchase was going to be much more trouble than sheโ€™d originally thought.

โ€œWhen I did get some trips planned, they were always interrupted by a โ€˜presentationโ€™ to update the members. I ended up staying with friends for the last two vacations because the [timeshare resort]โ€™s accommodations werenโ€™t clean. They werenโ€™t anywhere near what was advertised in the brochure.โ€

The frustration of booking and accommodations, along with the ongoing maintenance fees for a vacation option she could hardly ever use, were enough for Jill to draw the line and decide that she had to find a way out of her timeshare agreement.

โ€œI am a 10-year cancer survivor. Health insurance is extremely expensive. I have had to sacrifice a better quality of retirement to make sure that my health insurance premiums and this expensive timeshare loan are both paid. One of those is necessary, the other has become a complete burden!โ€

After hearing an advertisement for Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG) on the radio, Jill and her family decided to reach out to us here at WFG to assist them with escaping their timeshare nightmare. The process took several months, but Jill is now able to enjoy her retirement and future vacations because WFG helped her cancel her timeshare!*
