Gary & Tonya D.’s Love for Travel Led to Their Terrible Timeshare Purchase

Gary and Tonya love to travel, and their love for travel was one of the main selling points that the timeshare salesmen kept pitching when they were stuck in the hours-long meeting with the timeshare company.

The following is a written account of Gary and Tonya’s frustrating timeshare experience and how Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG), helped the couple cancel their timeshare. We hope the couple’s written account will help shed some light on the mischievous sales tactics used by timeshare salesmen. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are two very popular destinations for travelers, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the vacation/travel industry. It is a chance for families to safely enjoy the outdoors, but it also presents a chance for timeshare salesmen to push their own agendas and pitch families some “vacation options” during their outings. This is exactly what happened to Gary and Tonya.

Gary and Tonya were enjoying their vacation time in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee where they were invited to stay at a nice resort at no cost to them in exchange for attending a short presentation about how they could enjoy the resort whenever they wanted. When they arrived at the meeting, the couple was told several lies by the salesmen in order to push them into a sale.

“I love to travel, and my wife also loves to see new things, and so we decided to purchase the timeshare after conversations with several different representatives during the meeting.”

As is the case with so many others, the couple soon found themselves unable to actually use anything they’d purchased during the meeting. The couple has hardly been able to use their timeshare, and they definitely don’t see the benefit of having purchased the timeshare. Furthermore, they later found out that the timeshare would actually be a hindrance to their family rather than an asset, because a timeshare is so starkly different than traditional real estate (mostly because it isn’t actual real estate at all!).

“My wife and I continue to see [the timeshare company] withdraw from our bank account on a monthly basis while not actually using it. This is nothing more than a waste of money at this point.”

After seeing an advertisement for WFG on YouTube, the couple decided they would give the timeshare cancellation process a try and see where it might get them. With assistance from us here at WFG, Gary and Tonya have happily escaped their timeshare trap and can hopefully plan a vacation again soon!*
