Jon & Lucy Were Told Their Timeshare Was a True “Vacation Income Property”

Having been longtime rodeo and cowboys/girls themselves, Jon and Lucy are used to rough situations. Kicking cows, scorching heat and long days come with the territory for a farming family. Their first experience in a timeshare sales pitch environment, though, was unlike anything they’d ever experienced.

The following is a firsthand, written account about Jon & Lucy’s deceptive timeshare experience. We hope their story will help shed a light on the distrustful practices of the timeshare sales industry. Names have been changed or redacted due to privacy concerns.

Jon and Lucy live in Texas, but the commute to popular San Antonio is just far enough to justify what they thought was a vacation property. San Antonio is a heavily trafficked area for rodeo riders and fans, so the couple thought it could work out in their favor.

Being a farming family, Jon and Lucy work hard days and long hours to make their money. When they were invited to tour a resort property in San Antonio and told it could be a great investment option as the tourism industry boomed, the couple thought they understood what the timeshare sales team was saying...if what the timeshare sales team was saying had actually been true.

“We were invited to tour and told to consider this as an investment for rental income. There’s a rodeo during the second week of each month, and this rodeo has many out of town visitors. They told us that they could easily rent the property for income to help pay for our monthly payments, plus maintenance fees.”

Jon and Lucy trusted that it would be a worthwhile investment. Unfortunately, they soon discovered just how many lies were told in that presentation.

“Even when renting through a third party company, it was a lot of work and very little return. The property has only been rented twice, even though we have tried multiple methods for rental, costing us over $3,000. This past year, we received less income than half the fees that we were charged.

We’ve tried outside agencies that promised a lot and charged up front, but we got zero return. In most cases, I’ve tried finding our listing with them and had a difficult time finding it. When we tried contacting the listing companies, the number was no longer valid.”

This sales tactic (lie) is often used by timeshare sales people: “You can rent it during times you’re not using it! There are companies that even help do this! You could end up making money on the timeshare for a location like this!” Do NOT believe this; the resale and rental market for a timeshare option is abysmal. There are definitely reasons that timeshares resale for pennies on the dollar!

Jon and Lucy were frustrated with their timeshare, but they’re now even more frustrated with the amount of times they’ve tried to get out of it. Feeling defeated, the couple had nearly given up on even dealing with the timeshare at all anymore. They soon heard an advertisement on the radio for Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG), and they decided to take one final chance on exiting their timeshare.

It took some time, patience and persistence, but the couple is now free of their timeshare burden. Jon and Lucy are now able to fully enjoy their golden years without the hassle and overwhelming financial obligations of a timeshare. Furthermore, their family is no longer responsible for the timeshare after Jon and Lucy pass away, and Lucy says that is the greatest feeling out of this entire experience!

If you know anyone with a similar timeshare experience, please feel free to pass our phone number along to them. We’d love to see if they qualify for our timeshare termination services.
