Marty & Jennifer Were Deceived Into A Timeshare They Never Wanted In The First Place

When Marty and Jennifer J. attended a timeshare sales presentation, they went with no intention of purchasing one. After declining offer after offer from the salespeople, they were then wrongfully misled into a timeshare purchase at the hand of lies and deception. The couple still tried to make the most of it, but the timeshare could never live up to what it was presented to be.

The following is a firsthand account of Marty and Jennifer’s dreadful timeshare experience. We hope their story will help to shed light on unethical practices that constantly take place in the timeshare industry. Names may have been changed or redacted due to privacy concerns.

“We were offered a free 2-night stay at a resort if we agreed to attend a short presentation. We had an idea of what it was going to be like, but we were determined not to buy anything. Well, it ended up lasting over several hours and we just kept repeating NO! So then they offered us a free cruise trip. We were tempted by this and they began to make it all sound like a good deal. Obviously too good to be true!”

This is how the couple initially got involved with the timeshare industry. Due to their jobs at the time, Marty and Jennifer did not have much time for vacations. So when they were offered a free resort stay and also a free cruise trip, how could they say no? Unfortunately, a lot of the promises that were made that day, would not come to fruition.

“Apparently, the cruise we had to schedule ourselves but that was impossible. We tried to book it constantly after we purchased the timeshare but we couldn’t. After a year, the resort told us it was too late and there was nothing else they could do. We also had plenty of trouble with booking our own timeshare. Unavailability was our biggest issue. It seemed like we could never use the timeshare.”

The issues and problems only got worse for this couple. They pleaded for help from their resort and that’s when Marty and Jennifer were heavily pushed to attend an owner’s update meeting. This was presented as an important meeting that would fix any issues the couple was having. Instead, it ended up being another high-pressured sales pitch.

“It started with good information but before we could get out of there, another salesperson stopped us to talk. We expressed our unhappiness with the issues we were having and they told us that an upgrade could fix it. It ended up lasting multiple hours like last time. The upgrade was supposed to make booking trips easier but it didn’t help at all. We had to pay just as much as we did the first time, so we basically paid for two timeshares and were still not able to use it!“

Marty and Jennifer invested so much more money into this timeshare than they ever wanted to. To make matters worse, the price for their maintenance fees was constantly increasing. The couple realized that this timeshare was not the money-saving vacation alternative that it was sold to them as. That’s when they began looking for a way out.

The couple soon caught wind of Wesley Financial Group, LLC (“WFG”) who is one of the leaders of the timeshare cancellation industry. Browsing through their website, Marty and Jennifer could relate to several of the testimonials of former customers. They knew they were in the right place. Not too long after this, and the couple was timeshare-free thanks to the help of WFG.*

“The timeshare caused us a lot of financial harm and we were so happy to leave it behind us. Thanks to WFG, we can now move forward!”
