Timeshare Salespeople Preyed On The Sickness Of Sandra V. And Her Husband

Sandra V. and her husband were gifted with a free vacation stay by their friend who owned a timeshare. From the beginning of this trip, the married couple was constantly harassed to attend a sales presentation but didn't give in until they were persuaded with tickets to a tour and dinner at a local attraction.

The written account below is from Sandra on her terrible experience at this timeshare presentation and the results that came from it. We hope it will enlighten you on the deceitful tactics often used by timeshare salespeople. Names of people and companies have been changed or omitted due to privacy concerns.

“As soon as we were checking in, they began badgering us about attending their presentation, but we kept refusing the offer. They would call our room or catch us walking through the lobby and start up again about it, but we weren't interested. They came to us offering free tickets to a tour and dinner out on the town if we would attend the presentation and said it would be less than an hour.”

Less than an hour? That’s almost never the case with timeshare presentations and Sandra was about to find that out the hard way.

“It lasted for over 5 hours, and that was supposed to be time spent on vacation. My husband was a diabetic and was becoming visibly sick and upset. I tried to leave to go get his medication but was stopped at the door and not allowed to leave. They thought that giving him a soda and a cookie would be enough. We felt like prisoners there and with my husband feeling so sick, he told me to just give them a check so we could leave already.”

Many times when people purchase a timeshare they are left unaware that they have a very small window to cancel at no cost, and it is usually no more than five days. Sandra and her husband are a part of the few who did know about this. They only went through with the purchase so they could remove themselves from that toxic sales environment.

“We were told we had three days to cancel after the purchase, and we called them every single one of those days trying to cancel it. Apparently, the representative that signed us up had already left the company and there was no one else who could handle this. We tried calling management, but that got us nowhere.”

Sandra and her husband were unable to cancel their timeshare, even though they attempted to within the appropriate window. They felt stuck with it now and had to put up with making payments for years. Sandra’s husband recently passed away and with health issues of her own, she began searching again for ways to get out from under this timeshare.

Sandra saw one of our Facebook ads and decided to give us a call. We are currently in the closing process of canceling her timeshare and relieving her of the remaining $13,000 she had in mortgage debt.* If you know someone with a similar experience, please pass along our phone number. We’d be more than happy to see if they qualify for our timeshare termination services.
