Below is a word for word account of the timeshare nightmare that Richard and Pamela R. experienced. Richard and Pamela’s Client Story
“We received a voucher for a free night stay in Ormond Beach, Florida, just for listening to a 30-45 minute presentation. We thought it would be at a resort, but nope, it was at a different hotel. Once we got there, it seemed like a whirlwind. The guy was telling us that we were going to save so much money by having a timeshare, that we could even sell our week and make money if we wanted to.
Then someone else came in and started talking about all the benefits of being a timeshare owner while our original guy stepped out of the room for something.Then the gentleman came back and told us that he just got a great deal for us because a couple, who was in the middle of their divorce, was told they had to get rid of their timeshare. He said all we had to do was take over the rest of the payments, but that we had to act fast in order to get this room for such a low price. He said he would also throw in a voucher for a cruise. The clincher, though, was when he said that we could deed this to our children as part of their inheritance, which at the time we thought would be a good investment for them.
After we paid it off, we went back to the timeshare to ask what we could do to get rid of our timeshare because we never seemed to be able to utilize our "free week". And every time I would try to reserve the party room (which we were told we could use anytime for parties, family functions, etc.) it was never available or being used by the sales department.
Well I wish I could tell you how our stay was at our timeshare, but we have never spent one night there. Every time we try to check availability there is none. Even for the so-called ‘getaway weekends’. The taxes and maintenance fees keep getting higher and the monthly amount adds up quickly and it’s getting harder to maintain our bills.
We just want to get out from under this financial burden. Since various emergencies, my father passing, taking care of my mom with Alzheimer's, helping my oldest son after he moved back into the house since getting out of the Marines, helping my youngest son and his family when he was deployed, our daughter's college tuition coming up this next year and not to mention my husband and I have had to deal with health issues of our own. Things are a little tight and not owning this timeshare would be a huge financial relief.”
