Eva Was Told Her Timeshare Would Be Glamorous

Picture it: a beautiful wave pool, pristine waters and an envious destination worth thousands of extra dollars. When Eva first attended a timeshare presentation, the timeshare company had checked at least one of those boxes...an envious destination. She was told the wave pool and other amenities would be completed soon, but this was never the case for Eva’s family.

The following is a firsthand account about Eva's deceptive timeshare experience. We hope her story will help shed a light on the distrustful practices of the timeshare sales industry. Names have been changed or redacted due to privacy concerns.

As a retired military family between herself and her husband, Eva imagined plenty of time to spend with her family through the timeshare. At least, this is what she was told at that original timeshare meeting. For their four children in the blended family, Eva and her husband were told many wonderful things about the opportunities they would have to make beautiful memories using their timeshare.

And at any presentation lasting 4+ hours, it becomes very easy to accept many things as facts in order for you to leave as quickly as possible. Hunger, exhaustion and an overwhelmed feeling all set in after so long in such a dreadful situation!

“We were told the resort would have a future wave pool for us to use as a family within six months of us buying the timeshare. They also said we would be able to stay anytime we wanted, but there was rarely any availability.”

It only took a few months for Eva to realize just how untrue all of these statements were. Eva has faced the unknown in understanding or even using her timeshare, but the wave of fees and bills associated with her timeshare have cost her much more than just money.

“Just having this thing for a few months now has cost me so much. I would just like to be able to enjoy what little finance I have with my own family now. I can’t concentrate on anything except how to get rid of this timeshare at this point. My personal life is suffering.

I tried to sell it twice but never got anywhere. The timeshare company would not discuss a resale opportunity, so we decided on WFG [Wesley Financial Group].”

It took nearly 18 months, but Eva and her family are now timeshare free and relieved of nearly $5,500 worth of timeshare mortgage debt - all with the assistance of WFG!*
