Janice S. Was Promised Accommodations That She Never Experienced

Janice and her partner were talked into buying a timeshare. Their only stipulation was that their unit be ADA compliant, due to her partner’s medical conditions. What awaited them around the corner would only end in heartache and frustration. Below is a word for word account of the timeshare ordeal that Janice experienced. We hope her written account will enlighten you to some of the tactics that the timeshare industry often uses on good, unsuspecting people. Names of people have been changed and/or redacted for privacy reasons.

“I remember they tried to make it sound like such a great deal. They said it was better than a hotel. There were three salesmen, which felt like overkill. They told us we can come anytime, our unit was handicap accessible and when we paid it off our kids can have it. We informed them again that Wade (my partner) is handicapped and inquired for more information. They assured us that there’s handicapped parking and that the room is ADA compliant. We were in for a shock when we got there.”

Upon arriving at the timeshare in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Janice began to see first hand all of the lies she was fed during her sales presentation. Virtually none of the accommodations she was promised were available.

"I don’t know where to begin. The coffee maker would not work, the washer and dryer were not in the unit like they said, and we could not get to the outside grill. Not to mention, the long walk we had to take from the parking lot to the cabin. It was not handicap accessible.”

Wade’s medical condition tends to worsen in times of stress. This trip was nothing but stressful, making his experience a complete letdown.

“When I see Janice have to make payments on that timeshare it upsets me, and my condition gets worse. She has to work extra hours just to earn more money and pay off our timeshare. When in reality, we could just be saving up to take a regular vacation. I hate to see her wasting her money on something we can’t even use when we want.”

After getting in touch with Wesley Financial Group, LLC, Janice is now worry-free. Though the process wasn’t easy, we were able to assist Janice and Wade by terminating both of their timeshare agreements.*
