According to Kelly and James B., it can take up to at least five of them. At least that’s how their encounter with the timeshare industry began. Being bombarded by five salespeople unexpectedly would take its toll on anybody, but it being timeshare salespeople just makes the situation tenfold worse.
These salespeople are deceivingly good at their job and unfortunately, that has negative effects on many families such as Kelly and James. They have given a first-hand account of their experience as timeshare owners, from the day they were swindled into purchasing it to the day they realized they had to get rid of it and called us. The names of people and places have been changed and/or redacted for privacy reasons.
“We were told that the initial meeting would only last for 30 minutes but it instead went on for close to three hours, against our wishes. During this meeting, we spoke with at least five different salespeople. They all told us how wonderful a timeshare would be and then they would take us on a tour of the resort. Once we got back, another sales rep talked with us and said if we purchased then they’d give us a free cruise trip also. After more and more salespeople came by, we finally agreed to purchase because we didn’t think they’d ever stop.”
Timeshare salespeople do not stop. While they may tell you their presentation or meeting will be very short, they themselves are conditioned to stay there for hours on end if that is what it will take to get you to sign the dotted line.
“We were never able to vacation with our timeshare. We tried many times, but there was always something wrong with it. Whether it was our points randomly disappearing or nothing being available for years out at many locations, it seemed to always be unable to use. One time they said we just couldn’t use it because we had missed our last payment on our maintenance fees, so I paid them right then. Still could not plan a trip with our timeshare even after paying. It only caused issues for our family in the long run.”
Timeshares just never live up to everything they are sold as. The salespeople will go above and beyond to tell you whatever it is you want to hear. So do not fall for the impression that they truly care about you or your wellbeing, because the only thing on their mind is completing the sale.
“I even remember the salespeople telling us it was such a great investment because we would be able to pass it down to our kids one day. After realizing how much of a headache it was to own, I would never wish that stress on my own children. We knew if we could get rid of it, we could get back on track financially and would not have to stress about it becoming our children’s burden one day.”
Fearing that this financial burden would linger on in their life and only become worse down the line, Kelly and James reached out to us for help at Wesley Financial Group, LLC. After qualifying for our services, we worked quickly with the couple to terminate their timeshare agreement and along the way relieved them of $10,000 in mortgage debt.* We then set them up with our credit repair service to further assist them in getting their finances back on track.
Do you know someone in a similar timeshare situation? Have them call us at the number below. We would be more than happy to see if they qualify for our timeshare termination services.
