This Couple Was Convinced They Had To Upgrade Their Timeshare Every Few Years

Upgrading your timeshare can oftentimes turn out to be a downgrade. I mean, imagine your maintenance fees increasing by five times the original price after upgrading your timeshare. This is what happens when salespeople pressure current owners into countless “upgrade meetings” only to use the time as another sales pitch.

Mia and Miles D. are sharing their story today, and below are written excerpts from them on their experiences within the shady timeshare industry. Hopefully, this will reveal the wrongful practices that take place at these resorts and the sales tactics used against current owners to upgrade their property. Names may have been changed or omitted due to privacy concerns.

“We initially got caught up in our timeshare mess when we were visiting friends who had one, and we got pressured into attending a presentation. We were told owning a timeshare was basically prepaying for vacations. It seemed like a great investment, but looking back we should have known it sounded too good to be true. They bragged how it would be a perfect gift to leave behind for our children one day, but I wouldn’t even want ours to see the bill for that place.”

Timeshare salespeople seem to always bring up leaving behind a timeshare to your children when you pass away as a positive, when in fact it is far from that. Over time, timeshares quickly lose value but increase exponentially in their costs. Who would want to leave behind an investment like this, if that’s even what it should be called?

“It was not long before we got caught up again in their sales pitches. Now they were constantly badgering us about upgrading. They would call us all the time and every time we visited the resort, we had to attend another meeting. Well, we did what they told us to and it only made things worse. Maintenance fees increased out the roof. We could never book a trip to anywhere we wanted anymore. It was a disaster.”

Timeshare upgrades typically cause the price to go up while the value of your property becomes close to worthless. Rarely do we ever hear a timeshare upgrade story that ends well.

“The upgrade did nothing for us, and then the resort convinced us to upgrade again to fix the first one. I still can’t believe we continued to believe them for as long as we did. We went through three different upgrades, none of which ever made anything easier or for a more enjoyable vacation experience. It actually caused us to vacation less, but somehow pay more than triple what we were paying before.”

Mia and Miles were fed up with their timeshare company and the countless upgrades they pressured their family into. They tried to sell their property back to the resort to no avail. That’s when they approached Wesley Financial Group, LLC for our award-winning termination services. With our help, it was not long at all before this couple was out of their many timeshare agreements they had become embroiled in.* They no longer have to worry about a ginormous financial burden falling onto the shoulders of their children in the future.
