As a single mom of two, Krista canโ€™t afford to pay for her timeshare all on her own income. Since her husband passed away, sheโ€™s absorbed all of the fees. โ€œI am a mom of two kids, ages 13 and 21. Iโ€™ve been working as a teacher in the Nashville School District for just over 20 years. My husband, who was a principal in the school district, passed away two years ago. Ever since then, it has been really hard to keep up with the timeshare all by myself.

When my husband passed away, I had to make it on my income. Some bills were paid off, but others, I am still trying to pay off a little at a time. Any items that were not necessary I am trying or have been trying to get rid of. This time I took a big chunk of my income, which made it hard to pay others bills that were necessary. Vacationing is not something I can do a lot of because of my income anyway.โ€

As if paying the bills by herself wasnโ€™t enough stress on her family, Krista remembers that when she and her husband signed up for the timeshare, they didnโ€™t think they were told there would be yearly fees. Not to mention, the couple was told that if they upgraded they would receive more points.

โ€œI did not realize that I would be keeping the original timeshare and having to pay the yearly fees on it, as well as the updated timeshare. I could not afford to pay two fees. I could barely pay the one. I think the biggest lie we were told was that upgrading would help us receive more points to help benefit our vacationing.โ€
