Chad & Gena’s Timeshare Was Totally Unexpected

On their way to a wedding one day, Chad and Gena stopped to take a stroll through downtown Charleston, South Carolina. They were only in town for a short period of time, but Chad & Gena’s decision to attend a ‘short’ timeshare presentation after being approached by a salesman downtown would lead to more than the couple could’ve ever anticipated.

The following is a firsthand account about Chad and Gena’s deceptive timeshare experience. We hope their story will help shed a light on the distrustful practices of the timeshare sales industry. Names have been changed or redacted due to privacy concerns.

When Chad and Gena attended the timeshare sales presentation, they were told a lot of positive ‘attributes’ of owning a timeshare, and some of these might sound familiar to you if you’ve ever sat through a sales meeting with a timeshare team:

  • Easy to book their timeshare
  • Chad & Gena could book at various locations across the country
  • Their timeshare would offer them plenty of flexibility for family vacation

On top of these numerous exaggerations, Chad and Gena also faced multiple timeshare sales people in this initial meeting. They were told all kinds of narratives about how timeshares are definitely worth their money and will hold value, but it didn’t take long after that purchase for Chad and Gena to discover just how little value their timeshare actually had.

In that initial sales meeting, most unsuspecting families have no relative idea of just how much of a headache they’re getting themselves into by purchasing that timeshare. Along with so many others before them, Chad and Gena tried to contact that salesperson but were never able to reach them. This is all too common in timeshare sales, and countless numbers of families fall victim to these tactics everyday.

“The only time I can remember using the timeshare was when we were told we would be given free tickets to a show and some other free stuff, but of course we had to attend a short presentation. The presentation ended up being another hard sell where they tried to get you to purchase more points. The presentation wasn’t short and when we said we were done listening, they actually became irritated with us.”

It’s been several years since the couple was last able to use their timeshare, and they had been thinking of ways to either offset the cost of the timeshare or get rid of it altogether after spending nearly $30,000 on their wasted timeshare. Chad was watching television one day when he saw an advertisement for Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG). The couple then reached out to WFG and inquired about our timeshare cancellation services. Once they were qualified through our Qualification Specialists, Chad and Gena began working with us to properly cancel their timeshare. It took several months, but the couple is now timeshare free and saving over $1,000 per year!* Chad and Gena are now able to move on with their lives and enjoy vacations in peace.
