Casey V. Had No Desire to Get Rid of His Timeshare...at First

Casey V. and his wife enjoyed their timeshare at first, but things soon turned south when they noticed all of the promises that were made during the sales presentation had not (and never would) come to fruition.

The following written account highlights Casey and his family’s terrible experience during their timeshare ownership. The names of people and companies have been changed and/or redacted for privacy concerns.

Casey V.’s family fell in love with Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, so it didn’t take much from the timeshare sales team to convince them to purchase a timeshare in the area. They were informed that the initial meeting was mandatory, and they were also told about a lot of “planned upgrades” to the resorts.

“We took a tour of the property and a number of promises were made including:

  1. The golf course would be improved
  2. All of the units as well as gym and spa would be updated and maintained by the resort company
  3. All of the units would soon include washers and dryers
  4. The air conditioning systems throughout the resort would be improved

We’ve been visiting Cabo now for 17 seasons, and none of these things have been done to our timeshare property. Why are we paying maintenance fees for something that isn’t being maintained? Why do all of these fees keep going up when none of the upgrades have been done?”

The lack of internal maintenance and updates for the resort weren’t the only contributing factors that caused Casey to reconsider his timeshare. Casey and his family have since moved to warmer weather where they “can experience paradise year round,” but the deteriorating infrastructure, political power, and the fragile economy of Cabo San Lucas have also caused Casey concern over the safety of his family when they travel.

Casey also realized that the timeshare company had purchased nearby land to their resort and built a newer one, which is where he says all of his monthly fees end up going!

“They have built a new resort just down the road, and of course they want us to upgrade there. All the best staff we have known for 17 years have moved there. The new resort has the best restaurants and best amenities, but will the same thing happen there in 20 years? It makes me wonder.

We don’t like the way Cabo has changed. The violence and drug cartels are out of control. We used to let our teenagers run around downtown Cabo, but we no longer let them do that because we don’t feel it’s safe. Military drive around armored vehicles with weapons at the ready and Marines patrol at the harbor armed and not friendly. I no longer feel that this timeshare is worth my time, money or safety.”

Casey found Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG), through our website and decided to reach out to our team to see if he was qualified for our timeshare cancellation services. Casey is now free of his timeshare burden thanks to the assistance of WFG!*
