Family Plagued By Illness, Unable To Use Timeshare "Investment" Like They Had Been Promised

Below is a word for word account of the timeshare experience that Carrol and Kenneth V. experienced. We hope their written account will shed some light on the tactics that the timeshare industry often uses on good, unsuspecting people. *Names of people have been changed and/or redacted for privacy reasons.

Carrol and Kenneth’s Client Story

“We were told when we purchased that this would be a great investment and something that our kids and their kids would look forward to. This is not something that anybody in our family will ever enjoy. We simply want out of this bad situation, so we can focus on our family and helping them.

We originally purchased in November of 2017, in Las Vegas, NV. Our sales representative was Gabriel H. We purchased, only because he told us how great owning a timeshare would be for us and our family. At the time, we believed him, and thought this would be something that we could all enjoy. But unfortunately, that is not how it has turned out.

We later went on one vacation to Scottsdale, AZ in March of 2018. We upgraded then only because our sales rep, Tamara B., made it seem that it was what we needed to do. She said it would give us better booking power and availability. We bought because at the time, we still thought this would be something that we could all use.

After a major back surgery in 2009, I had a blood clot behind my left knee which passed through to my lungs. Since then, this past July, I had a knee replacement and my doctor advised me not to travel for more than a two hour period. I have a problem with my knee swelling and pain that travels down to my foot. I know I am at risk for another blood clot if I don’t take care of it. It would be impossible for me to travel very far, and I have to stay close to home. My husband also needs surgery. We have our older son who has cancer and we help him all we can. In November of 2018, my youngest grandson found out that he had testicular cancer. Our oldest grandson found out in December of 2018 that he has colon cancer which has spread throughout his lungs, liver, and appendix. He is terminal and has 3 to 4 years with treatment, without he has 6 months.

We are helping them and their families all we can. I feel helping my family is more important at this time than paying for something we can’t use. We won’t leave them as long as they need us near to help out. We would not be able to travel even if we were able, because of my health issues and my husbands as well.

This timeshare is nothing but a burden to us, and something that we cannot and will not use. We cannot and will not ever use this timeshare again.”

Carrol and Kenneth have faced significant hardships since purchasing their timeshare. When we heard of their story, we decided to help them terminate their timeshare pro bono.
