Teddy Was Told His Timeshare Would Be Affordable

Teddy was told that millions of other families had timeshare options because they were affordable. He was told that timeshares were a great investment, and that timeshares were flexible options for busy folks such as himself.

The following is a firsthand account about Teddy’s deceptive timeshare experience. We hope his story will help shed a light on the distrustful practices of the timeshare sales industry. Names have been changed or redacted due to privacy concerns.

When he attended the initial timeshare presentation, Teddy and his family adamantly stated that they simply couldn’t afford the timeshare packages that the sales team was trying to push onto them. After hours and hours of pressure-filled sales tactics, multiple sales people and seemingly no way out of the meeting without purchasing something, Teddy decided to purchase a package that he thought the family could afford at approximately $850/calendar year.

He recalls the first trip he was able to take with his family that first year of owning a timeshare. He had paid the required fees in full that year, but he didn’t know that attending a second timeshare sales presentation would be required of his family when they arrived at their first resort destination.

This is a commonly used tactic of timeshare companies. The company keeps very accurate, precise records of each account holder with them, so that when the time comes to pressure their customers for more money they are able to accurately ‘convince’ customers to spend more hard earned money.

“On this trip, we were sold more points so that we could have a better unit on the next trip we wanted to plan. The unit we were staying in this time was okay, but it wasn’t what we thought we should get for the amount of money we paid just to keep this timeshare (not counting travel and other things that the timeshare fees didn’t cover).”

Teddy and his family thought that the upgrade would serve them well on their next planned trip; however, they would later find out that it would be practically impossible to reserve their timeshare again.

On top of availability issues, Teddy’s personal health would play a factor in ultimately rendering his timeshare option completely useless to him and his family. Mounting issues surrounding his health and the rising timeshare costs would lead Teddy to contact us here at Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG) after his family began researching ways out of the timeshare agreement holding the family financially and emotionally captive.

It was a grueling few months, but with the assistance of WFG, Teddy and his family are now timeshare free!* Teddy is now able to focus on his personal and financial health, while also being able to take truly flexible vacations with his family when everyone is able.
