“This all started when we were offered a $150 gift certificate and room discounts for a resort stay, but the catch was we had to attend their sales pitch on a timeshare. While here they told us how the new football stadium being built in the city was going to cause hotel prices to surge, while their timeshare prices wouldn’t be touched. This frightened us because we visited the city often to visit family and friends, and we always stayed at a hotel.”
Timeshare salespeople will seek out a weakness in all their clients and use it to the disadvantage of said clients until they are either guilted or deceived into purchasing a timeshare.
“We later realized we were told so many lies during that presentation. They told us all about their properties in many different cities and we asked explicitly about a specific city, to which they responded saying they had a property there. They did not. We also purchased points to cover future travel expenses. They said the points would roll over at the end of the year. Again, another lie as we found out the hard way. They were not honest at all with us, it was all just about money with them.”
“My husband and I are now retired and on a fixed income, which is much less than when we were still working. We also both have health conditions and have expensive medications to pay for already. It was getting to the point where each month we had to decide on if we wanted to pay for our medications or pay the timeshare fees to stay out of debt. We knew without the timeshare, our lives would be much easier and we could easily afford everything we needed. It was just holding us back.”
