Dianne and Richard took advantage of what they thought was a “free vacation” to Branson in return for attending a short presentation about the resort and its vacation options. They certainly didn’t expect to be pressured into a lengthy, exhausting timeshare sales presentation.
The following is a written account of Dianne and Richards’s terrible experience with their timeshare company and how Wesley Financial Group, LLC came to help. We hope this story will shed some light on the very predatory nature of timeshare sales and its effects on everyday families. Names of people have been changed and/or redacted for privacy reasons.
“We knew something was fishy when we arrived a day early and tried to check into our room so we wouldn’t have to move the next day. We told them we’d pay for the extra night in the room, but they wouldn’t accommodate us or even give us another room at the resort. “
Since they weren’t able to check in to their suite early, the couple waited until the next day and obliged with the presentation requests from the resort. They weren’t interested in purchasing the timeshares presented to them by the salesman, but the nearly 3 hours that they were stuck in the meeting caused them to cave to the pressure.
The couple knew they had an afternoon variety show to get to on their Branson vacation, and so they simply agreed to purchase the option since they’d already purchased tickets to that afternoon show. It all seemed pretty straightforward when they were in the presentation and taking the salesman for their word, but Dianne and Richard soon realized that much of what they were told was blatant lies.
“They told us we could trade our time with this timeshare resort for another location in any one of their locations around the world. We tried to do this option several times, but there was never anything available. They also told us that it would be a great option to pass down to our kids. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t wish this on anyone’s children.”
Dianne and Richard have since discovered that their timeshare is hardly worth anything (much less than what they are paying for it), and Richard says that their old age and inability to travel have led to them not even using the timeshare. They’ve also inherited a lakehouse since they purchased the timeshare, and it just seems that all of their bills kept piling on top of this original timeshare purchase. However, unlike the timeshare, they could actually use the lake house getaway!
“The timeshare location in Branson isn’t something that we can use now due to Branson being 12+ hours away. Since we now have the lake house maintenance and upkeep as well, it’s nearly impossible to make the payments between both the lake house and the timeshare.
Not to mention the fact that our health also keeps us away from the timeshare that we continue to pay for. We’ve since moved into senior housing and have a lot of opportunities for activities and entertainment nearby. At this stage in our lives, this has become a great fit for us.”
Dianne and Richard clearly are no longer able to use their timeshare (and haven’t in nearly 3 years). They felt like they had no way of getting out of this nightmare, when they should be enjoying their time locally and safely with their friends and family. After seeing an advertisement online for Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG), Dianne and Richard contacted us here at WFG. Thankfully, WFG has assisted them with successfully terminating their timeshare.*
If you or someone you know could potentially use our assistance here at WFG, pass along our phone number below. We would be more than happy to see if they qualify for our timeshare termination services!
