Macy & David Were Held Mentally and Financially Captive By Their Timeshare

Fear: a word that accurately sums up Macy and David B.’s timeshare ownership experience. The couple has experienced anxiety, frustration, and constant uneasiness while the timeshare bills continued to be sent to them. Fortunately for them, Macy and David found Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG). But their story begins with an hours-long, pressure cooker-style timeshare presentation that ultimately forced them into one of the worst financial decisions of their life.

Below is a written account of the timeshare ordeal that Macy and David experienced. We hope their written account will enlighten some of the tactics that the timeshare industry often uses on good, unsuspecting people. Names of people have been changed and/or redacted for privacy reasons.

“We were offered a free vacation in Florida. We thought we would be staying at the resort, but when we got down there, they put us up in some other hotel. We were told after we got down there that we needed to sit in a half hour presentation on purchasing a timeshare. It turned out to be three or more hours of persuading and convincing us the benefits of purchasing it.”

During this presentation, Macy and David were told so many lies that they didn’t even know what questions to begin asking. They were offered free cruise ship tickets (which were later determined to be useless, as the cruise company had gone out of business), free theme park tickets and other freebie gifts. Furthermore, the couple was told that their timeshare purchase would be a good investment, allowing them to vacation all over the world and dine at the finest restaurants.

“At the presentation they told us that we would accumulate points to use on vacations anywhere in the world--dining in the finest restaurants, staying at first class hotels and many other things. We were under the assumption that the points would grow from year to year if we didn’t use them, which we could use on a nicer vacation.”

After facing intense pressure during the sales presentation, the couple decided to agree to the timeshare purchase. They felt that there was flexibility in this agreement and that they would be able to use the situation to their advantage. Macy and David soon realized that this situation was very different, and that their initial gut reactions were wrong.

We later found out that we were being billed for an annual fee and that we would lose the points we accumulated if we didn’t use them. We were never told that we could not get out of our timeshare and that it would pass on to our children. We were never told that they would then be responsible to pay all the regular fees after we die. ”

The couple spent years of their lives paying for a timeshare that they were hardly able to use. As those years passed, their physical health deteriorated while being mentally anguished by the timeshare trap they were caught in. They weren’t able to travel anymore due to their health, but those ridiculously high payments were still due monthly (along with other annual fees).

Macy and David didn’t see a way out of this nightmare, but they heard an advertisement on the radio one day for WFG. The couple decided to give us a call and see if they qualified for WFG’s timeshare cancellation services. After several months of negotiating their cancellation, Macy and David are now timeshare free thanks to assistance from WFG!*

If you know someone who’s in timeshare distress and could use WFG’s assistance, pass along our phone number below. We would be more than happy to see if they qualify for our timeshare termination services.
