“The sales pressure was worse than being at a car dealership. We were promised valuable points for extended and costly stays for various places, airline tickets, meal vouchers and other discounts for restaurants, tourist shops and a lot of other amenities.”

Below is a written account of Camile & Jericho’s very personal experience during and after purchasing their timeshare. We hope this story will shed some light on the very predatory nature of timeshare sales and its effects on everyday families. Names of people have been changed and/or redacted for privacy reasons.

Camile and Jericho C. are a middle class, modest American family. James, who owns and runs his own auto-mechanic shop, never really had time for a long vacation because he always had a backup of clients needing vehicle repairs. His business kept the family in good financial standing, but they knew they never wanted anything too extravagant when it came to vacations or extracurricular expenses. So why did they purchase a timeshare, you ask?

Unfortunately, the pressure and length of a timeshare sales presentation can force even the most stubborn of us to make snap decisions just to escape the presentation and get back to our families. This is exactly what these terrible presentations are designed to do!

“We told them we could not afford to get a larger package of points, but after several hours of finagling, they convinced us to accept the smallest package they had. We were made to believe that we could afford it, and that we would be completely foolish not to take it.”

The couple eventually caved to the sales pressure. They thought they could make the timeshare ownership work out, but the stress on their marriage spilled over into the stress of owning, paying for and even using the timeshare option itself.

“We were separated at the time, and we were told that vacationing together could improve our relationship. Finances had always been an issue for us, and we had never taken a vacation together.

Jericho has never had more than a 4 day weekend, and during the holidays he was able to take time off, but the timeshare was never available. There were never any times we could go. We had more stress and arguments over the fact that we can’t afford to go anywhere due to other financial issues and also the timing with Jericho’s demanding work schedule. We decided to do something about this when we were notified by the timeshare company that we were losing ‘valuable points’ by not using the timeshare we were paying for.”

After hearing a radio advertisement from Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG), Camile and Jericho decided to contact us here at WFG to see if they were eligible for our timeshare termination services. We are happy to report that the couple successfully escaped their timeshare nightmare and saved nearly $8,000 with the help of WFG!*
