Max and Amy B. held onto their timeshare for several years in hopes that they would eventually be able to utilize it with ease, which is what they were pitched during their original timeshare sales presentation. The lack of availability and their compiling health issues led to a very stressful situation throughout their timeshare ownership.
The following is a written account from Max and Amy B. on their time spent as timeshare owners and why they regret every bit of it. We hope their story will shed a light on the wrongdoings so prevalent within the timeshare industry. Names of people and places have been changed or redacted for privacy reasons.
Max and Amy’s first priority has always been their family. When they were told about the amazing investment opportunity that a timeshare would present for their family, the couple thought that an investment like that would allow them to travel with their children and grandchildren for big, fulfilling family vacations.
“At the meeting, the salesperson told us that. ‘You work hard, invest in your home and pay for entertainment, and so why not invest in your vacation time as well?’
They would keep leaving and come back with food, drink and binders with pictures and information on differing locations and how high our trade value would be compared to them. And as the children get older they can use it anytime (graduations, friends trips and small family trips).”
After being pressured by several different salesmen and told several exaggerated claims, the couple decided to give their timeshare opportunity a try...or what they thought was “a try.” They tried several different times to book the timeshare, but they were told it was always unavailable.
Several years have passed since their original timeshare purchase and the couple has been confronted with new challenges in their life. These challenges require bigger financial commitments and take priority over their growing timeshare payments. Max’s mounting health problems forced the couple to look into exiting their timeshare nightmare.
“Medical issues have caused me to have to find a dialysis center outside of my medical coverage group, and I have had to privately pay for that. The timeshare company seems to be catering to non-owners and pressuring us existing owners into an upgrade (even though we haven’t used it for the first purchase!)
If I truly wished and were able to travel, I could book a vacation cheaper and easier at any resort without ever owning a timeshare.”
After seeing an advertisement online for Wesley Financial Group, LLC (WFG), the couple decided to reach out to us here and see if they qualify for our timeshare cancellation services. It took several months, but Max & Amy are now timeshare free!*
